General Comments: As we finish up quarter 3 it seems like things are moving faster than ever. In the fall we received aquaponics grow labs for students and a large grow bed for development of bigger plants. In February we received official certification and authorization for our farm to table initiative. Students and staff will be dining on fresh produce grown at their own school sites.

PLC/Safety Committee: The District Leadership meeting in March reviewed our progress working with iReady and has identified several pieces of support materials to add to our instructional library. The data coming from iReady has been very useful and staff have seamlessly integrated its use in instruction, but the need for actual paper copies of instructional materials and student workbooks were identified as high priority needs.

District Facilities and Bus Update: On the recommendation of the  school board, EsCSD has identified and purchased a property in Goldfield for staff housing. Offering inexpensive housing has given our district the ability to entice educators to come and find out why Esmeralda County is a great place to live and work. In a survey of teachers it was found that the majority would not have taken the risk of traveling this far out if not for the housing benefit, but now that they are here, they also realize just how great a place Esmeralda is to be.

Superintendent/Board: It is another legislative year and with that comes extra visits to Carson City to confer with the legislature, governor, and state board of education officials. Everyone is working hard to  make the best choices possible to improve education and learning results in Nevada. EsCSD has benefited greatly from collation with leaders from around the state and we look forward to great things to come.
